Had the FW dealer pull plugs for my boat off the shelf and he told me they are Champion RV15YC4 in the box. This is different from what you guys stated above?

According to the Champion website, RV15YC4 plugs are "traditional" plugs that were fitted to GM V8s, marine and truck/ car applications in the early to mid 1990s. Being "traditional", they have copper electrodes and are therefore much cheaper than the current type of plugs, which have platinum electrodes. They will as a result need changing more often. I suspect a "15" Champion plug may have a different heat range that the current "12" plugs.

Think I am going to just go with the AC Delco 41-993. We have them in stock at work.

AC Delco 41-993 seems like a good plan ! I just checked, RV15YC4 are a different heat range to the RS12PYP, , plus RV15YC4 plugs have a different reach; they have a shorter thread than the correct plugs by 6.4mm. I don't think the engine would run well with the spark electrodes shrouded. It might be nice to tell the dealer, in case he sells them to someone with a later engine thinking they are correct!

Does that mean there might be a "connection" for a spark plug supplier? Any idea on pricing if so?

I run the parts department for a Toyota Forklift company and Toyota runs a 4.3L GM V6 in there larger trucks. This is the plug Toyota uses in this engine. My cost is over $9.00ea. from Toyota so not really a deal. Actually checked Napa and they have the same plug for $5.97ea. with our discount. Wish Toyota didn't have to mark up there parts so high. Just checked my after market source for fork lift parts and my cost is $4.50EA. from them. So if someone did want some plugs let me know and I can check my cost on them.

Aren't the mark ups incredible; even when your supplier sells you them at $4.50 each they are still making what they consider an acceptable profit. Then Toyota want over $4.50 on top of that !

I spent ten years in the automotive buisness prior to this job and I thought factory auto parts were expensive. You havn't seen anything until you own a forklift. Its so weird that some of the parts that look expensive are not that bad, but then there are some things that just blow my mind and some of our big customers don't blink an eye when I tell them its going to cost $2500.00 for a brake job. Told one customer it was going to cost him $8000.00 for a new engine for his truck not including labor for us to install it and he just asked how fast can I have it!

Just curious, what was the actual COST of that $8000.00 engine?

My cost was $6300.00. Actually list price on this engine is $9500.00. We cut them a break because they are one of our best customers and the truck was near new. They ran it out of oil after the oil filter seal failed. They admitted they knew it was leaking, but kept driving it anyway until the motor locked up.
