Each year I don't just remove the outdrive, I also remove the tilt housing; the bit that the outdrive bolts onto. It allows much better access when removing/ changing the bellows, plus I can antifoul the inside of it, (and the transom shield ) to discourage barnacles that could damage the bellows.
