Oh...I am good with basic mech tools. I am talking about the 36mm socket for the oil filter, the oil pumpout tank etc...

Actually a standard oil filter wrench worked better if I remember right. The oil pump out can be a pain depending on what pump you use. Right now I have just a hand pump which takes for ever. I am going to order the electric version from Overtons next time a place an order for anything there.

I want to revive this thread for a second, just for some second opinions. Here is what I plan to do myself (and with the help of a buddy). Am I missing anything? The boat has (I think 76 hours on it).

Oil/Fiilter Change
Fuel Filter
Drive Fluid
Impeller (I change every spring)
Drive alignment check/adjustment (taking to my dealer)

Maybe check ignition parts? I changed mine on my 5.0L GXi at 105 hours so your a little of from that yet, but my Dist. Cap and rotor were corroded on the inside and plugs looked a little worn so I just changed them and kept old stuff as spares. It wasn't running bad, but I figured better to change in the off season when I had time than have a break down.

I learned a few things today:

1. West Marine (locally at least) doesnt stock anything OEM Volvo..not even oils.
2. On the Flame arester cover is a label. That label tells you the part numbers for ALL of the maintenance items for that engine. It even tells you what volume of oil and drive fluid is needed.
