Looks like you guys already covered my issue. Just bought the boat last month and shifter was very stiff, especially when returning to neutral from forward. While loading on the trailer this weekend, I actually broke the plastic connector at the throttle when trying to return to neutral. After review of this site and removing the shifter, the problem was obviuos.
