In fact, here is an idea for a sticky in the engines forum
" the solution to the _________ problem was _______"
or if you have an old OMC Cobra like me and its not shifting right
"OMC Cobra adjustment hints"
and
"drive removal and re-installation hints"
"how to make drum brakes work and last in salt water"
"things to check on a used boat"
there are questions that get asked over and over and people wind up searching but it would be nice to have it all in one place.
PS after reading through your saga before seeing the solution I was thinking I'd have wanted to pull all the FI stuff off of it and just put a carb on. You might have needed a new manifold but that would have solved the problem too (but been more expensive than a new TB and it would not have run as well as FI).
