I still reckon you're mild 4.3 will struggle to use that available 4BBL's worth of airflow.
A Holley 2300 (500CFM, 2BBL) should give you better down low/ mid torque and be much better with fuel.
Tow truck engines which aren't too dissimilar to boat engines still opt for the 2BBL's, for this very reason.
The 2300's are still used for certain motorsport classes & make decent power & torque!

YOU are forgetting a key element of a boat engine vs a car engine.. the car prefers HIGHER rpm HP where a boat NEEDS low end raw torque and low rpm HP otherwise you are a slug out the hole and cruising rpms. if you plan to ride at WOT all the time then by all means build it like a car. i would suggest trying the 500 2b first as it has a slightly lower rpm HP point which is more suited for the boat vs a 4b. This being said based on the outcomes that you presently have. Now in no means can i with out a doubt say that the 4b 600 would not be the best i dimly have not experienced this combination of parts. but i would suggest before you drop coin on a new intake manifold i would give the 2b 500 a shot as i have a feeling that it may be what you are after.

non the less it is int he end of the day a 4.3 and with marine parts it can only be pushed so far. Now i do know of people budget building 4.3 automotive to the 400s but that is with heads that will not work on a boat. So that is a mute topic.

I'd go Quadrajet if it were me. They seem to be more fuel efficient at lower speeds due to the smaller primaries. I have no experience with the Edelbrock carbs, but aren't they based on the Carter AFB? If so, that would be my choice over a Holley as well.

great replies all. I talked to my cousin last night who races cars and he agrees with you guys. To go with a bigger 2barrel for low end torque and better throttle response. He uses a large 2 barrel in his short track (1/3 mile to 1/2 mile) oval race car. So I think that is my next step, can't hurt and if that still doesn't work out(I think it will) then I will sell both carbs and the 2barrel intake on ebay and go with the 4 barrel setup.

now to figure out what carb to get.

While mine is a "mild" 4.3 the dyno did put it in the upper 260's low 270's for hp and over 320 some in torque with a 4bbl, so I'm not afraid of it struggling.
Holley has a 600 4bbl tuned to bolt right on a stock 4.3l marine engine. searching though iboats forums there has been a bunch of guys who made the switch with stock engines and noticed gains in both fuel economy and wot . That being said I'm running 19 pitch props for watersports so neither of those are that important to me, but low end grunt for multiple skiers/ barefooters is.

YOU GUYS THINK THIS WOULD WORK? ONLY THING THAT HAS ME HUNG UP IS THE 50CC ACCELERATOR PUMP... MUST ADMIT I'M NOT TOTALLY SURE BESIDES 20CC WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THAT AND A 30CC PUMP WOULD MEAN...TOO MUCH FUEL?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rebuilt-Holley- ... 4f&vxp=mtr

NEVERMIND I DON'T KNOW IF I LIKE THAT ONE, FUEL HOOKUP AND VACUUM INLETS ARE DIFFERENT THAN CURRENT 2300. WOULD LIKE TO JUST PLUG AND PLAY SO TO SPEAK.

To be honest I'm looking for them. I had them a year ago in my file cabinet but now they are gone along with all my other papers. Went through a divorce not long ago, and I'm pretty sure the ex took them to make sure they blue book the boat right for equity. I need to call her and see if she has it all. can't find the title either so I'm guessing she does.

Nope, she doesn't have them...lol guess I better start looking harder.

That 2300 (that's now sold) would've been perfect.
They used the larger 50cc accelerator pump (AP) on the Vortec engines, as they revved fast.
I had do drastically increase my AP nozzle size on my boat after I fitted a set of extractors.
You can always fit a smaller nozzle on the 50cc pump.

crap, didn't even look to see the end time. emailed the seller to see if he still has it and wants to sell it, or if he is going to re-list.
