Update: Spoke to the dealer yesterday, they have not recieved teh new parts yet. Not sure why but they expect them this week or next. I guess they can't jsut come out of the stock parts supply without a lot of red tape. I will update agian later.

Chris any update for us on your plight? You should have an answer by now.

Spoke to the dealer on the weekend, but no news yet, he is still waiting on Volvo. He does suspect that I will get a new drive as well though, based on his experience with Volvo in the past. It's just a waiting game now. Not a big deal yet, as I just tucked the boat into my inlaw's barn for her long winter's nap. As I was washing it to put it away, I found one more defect to be fixed in the spring, a stress crack in the gel, right up near one of the tie-down loops on the transom. I didn't need to see that, really.....

That's probably no biggie. They probably just didn't relieve the gel enough around that hole before installing the tie down.

Boat is done, picking it up tomorrow. Looks like we are plug and play for the spring. Have a safe winter all.

Dave

Thanks Dave, glad to hear all is good on your end. I had not heard anything back from my dealer, but I think I will give him a should by the end of the week. I have not been pushing as I have been in no rush with the off season and all.....

I did however find another person with the same problem on the BoatingABC forums. This time with twin duoprops on a larger Monterey I believe. Volvo replaced both drives under waranty in that situation as well.

I will keep you all informed as the events unfold.

By the way, how's everyone's winter honey-do list coming? I'm done the planning and almost into the demo of bathroom number 1...... Oh, and my wife just threw a new laminate floor in the bedroom on to the list for good measure!

Looks like I am reglazing about 6 windows from the camp. remove glass and putty, strip window, repair, prime, replace glass with new, putty, let cure, prime, paint, install in spring.
each window has 4 pains of glass so 6 frames, 24 pains in my arse I guess  Closed up the camp last weekend with the shutters and winter prep.

With fuel oil being 3 a gallon we decided to srink wrap all the windows in the house. Did most of them this weekend still need to do a few more and install the electrical outlet insulators.

Anything to save a buck at this point.

Well, a quick update for you, since it has been a while.

It looks like all that Volvo Canada is going to do for me is repaint the drive and replace the anodes, according to my dealer. That's not the answer I was hoping to hear!

I am thinking that I will talk to the people at the Four Winns booth and the Volvo Penta booth while I am down at the Toronto Boat Show this weekend! Not sure why my resolution for this problem would be any different from the others that I have seen here and at the BoatingABC forum!

Man, I hope I am not in for a fight to get this handled correctly.... :x

You might let them know that you know other new owners with the same problem, and you want to be taken care of the way they were.

I've been following your posts to see how Volvo Canada resolves this issue. It looks like their accepting responsibility, but what was the diagnosis? If they determined it was a paint defect, I'd take them to task for a new drive. If it was due to incorrect anodes, challenge your dealer for a new drive. My dealer specifically pointed out that Four Winns ships their Canadian boats with the wrong anodes and that they had been replaced with magnesium prior to delivery.

I don't have any corrosion yet on my 180, but I don't slip it either.

I'll be at the show on Saturday and will raise the issue with the Volvo reps (once I'm done crying over the new prices with the strong CDN dollar!)

I think the diagnosis was incorrect anodes. I agree that someone needs to take care of the problem, and I still don't think that the paint job is the correct solution. I don't care if it is the dealership or Volvo!

Yeah, the Volvo booth will be one of my first stops at the show on Sunday, to figure out what else can be done above the dealership level.

How can you tell if you have the correct anode? I have a 2007 H200 with SX drive and only about 9 hrs on it. I trailer to and from Canyon Lake down here near San Antonio.

Thanks
