I have a 1995 fourwinns sundowner 195 with a 4.3 omc. Currently I can get the boat to 41 mph at 4200 rpms with a 14.5x19 prop. Should I leav this how it is or do a prop change. Or would I better off adding smart tabs. I'd like to keep at least 40 mph but would not mind a better hole shot. Thanks in advance

I would guess that 4200rpm is way below you rated max rpm but do you know what it is supposed to be?

As for hole shot, I can speak to a prop change and to smart tabs. I put smart tabs on my sea ray half way through my 2nd season with it. Completely did everything they claim, made the boat handle like a dream. I'd love to have them on my FW but on my hull, with afterpods it's not really feasible or ideal as far as mounting locations are concerned.

You can read about my prop experience here.

depends on what you are trying to accomplish. How much time do you spend at full throttle, what do use the boat for mostly. I mostly do whatsports with mine so having the RPM's a little higher when at pulling speeds is good because it enables the engine to maintain the speed and thrust when a skier pulls on the boat or when you're making turns with a tube.
