I can hear that the trim is all the way up, but the gauge is showing only 3/4 up. It shows all the way down when it is and aligns when noise is heard. I did notice that even with the key turned once to the right, motor not running, and I turn the steering wheel, the trim gauge will move a little. When we were moving and I would touch the trim to bring it up, the needle "floats" up and down a bit before settling to the location. The real issue seems that it stops 1/4 from the top of the gauge, even though it really is all the way up....as indicated by the sound. Any ideas? Thx |

The trim gauge is the most inaccurate gauge on a boat. I think you can only every to get it aligned at one end of the travel. For mine, I can't really run with it above the middle (boat starts to porpoise too much) so I have the sender adjusted where fully down is accurate on the gauge. |

It is odd because it has been perfect and then while tubing, it starting bouncing. It goes up and down the full range, but never floated or moved around. Do you think an alignment is all it needs or can it be more serious. I used it a lot since we pull into pretty shallow areas to swim. What concerns me is how it floats up and down when turning the turning wheel.....even while just sitting idle. Is this common? THX! |

DO a lot of people ride around with these not functioning? Also, what are the common "loose wire" spots? Are they at the end near the outdrive? I ask because I had work done and the outdrive was removed......the gauge was fine until then. THX! ![]() |

Our Four Winns 268 worked for the first year, then did not for the remaining 5 years. Never fixed either of them. Just as easy to go by "feel" or "sound" than look at an inaccurate gauge. |
