I know that each boat is different so what ways do you guys get on plane? Do you full throttle right away? What is your trim setting when you start to go on plane? Is there a big difference when you have more people on board? Is your outdrive completely down? What happens if your guests are all sitting on the stern seat? I had the boat out for the first time on a big lake and then into Lake Huron. With just my wife and I, full tank of gas and full tank of water and gear to boot, we got on plane in a few seconds with the trim all the way down and then adjusted as we went along. ( finally at rated speed) . With the guests on board, a different situation. I had to put them in the cabin to get the bow down to get on plane. Once there, speed was good. Getting there however was a challenge. |

I put the drive down and give full throttle to get it out of the hole. Then I ease off the throttle and adjust the trim to get a desired cruising speed. |

Drive trim all the way down. I only use full throttle to get on plane when 6 or so on board. With me, the wife and the two kids about 3/4 throttle will jump the boat on plane. Had 9 people several of which were "heavy" and I had to use some tab. Very rarely is anyone with the exception of the kids in the cabin. |

I'm currently taking a seamans course and came across my problem. We packed most of the gear in the sleeping berth. The weight distribution was such that with guests and gear beyond the center point of the boat near the stern, caused getting on plane difficult because the bow was too light and the stern too heavy. And I didn't use the trim tabs which probably I should of. I also had a slight list to port which I didn't compensate for while at the dock. I guess a you learn as you go. |
