I thought it best to stay away from variable viscosity oils in these engines.....go with your manual recommendations.....I use VP straight 30 synthetic

I was looking into this same question this fall. It seems that VP no longer sells SAE 30 full synthetic for their gasoline engines. They have switched over to 10W40 full synt.

With that in mind, I would think that any quality 10W40 full synth would do the job.

I use the Rotella, but I use the straight 30 as thats whats recommended for mine. Its HD conventional oil and not synthetic, but I only put about 20 hours or so between oil changes.
