I did a pretty good number on my prop last weekend and just received my new prop yesterday, but I forgot to order a prop tool. Is this really necessary, or can I easily get the job done with regular tools? Also, for a first timer, how much time should I expect this to take? Thanks.

What type of outdrive do you have? Volvo or Mercruiser? Single prop or duoprop?

It's a Volvo SX outdrive on a 2000 180 Horizon, single prop.

Nevermind, I changed the prop today in less than 10 minutes with little more than a wrench. That was simple.

You always want to put a good waterproof grease on the propshaft splines, I use OMC/Bombardier triple guard grease, that stuff is great, stands up to a whole season of salt water use.
