I have the carbed 5.7GS (Volvo Penta) in my 99 Vista 258 and was wondering if it was possible to upgrade to throttle body injection? I have a friend with a 268 Vista with the 5.7Gsi (or whatever designation it is for throttle body injection) and liked the idea.

Are their any kits or upgrades for the VP 5.7L engine and is this cost effective?

Can be done but not worth the costs.

I agree. Is there a problem you're trying to fix?

No, Im not trying to fix a problem but I do like to mod my boat and add things for convenience and, occasionally, value :D

I figured TBI would be a nice addition. No more cranking the throttle, rough idle, etc... Plus it sounds more appealing when you go to sell the boat. There are a lot of boaters I boat with that wont touch a carbed marine engine with a 10 foot stick! Personally it didnt affect my decision. The boat was really clean and loaded up otherwise and the carbed engine wasnt a big deal. Some people are so weird.....

I passed up the TBI kit, its $1100 and looks complicated. Instead I think I will just install a K&N spark arrestor to open up some airflow. Thats significantly cheaper and hopefully will help improved my fuel economy.
