Hey everyone! We have a 2001 268 Vista and I found a place that can fit it indoors (which is hard to come by in Northern NY!) and it is also climate controlled to 60 degrees. This is the first time I have owned a boat and stored it inside, so what kind of winterization do I need to do? I assume I don't need to put antifreeze in all the water systems.... It just feels weird not to do that. I will change the engine oil once it is out of the water. Any other ideas? I can't believe it is that time again to be thinking of winter storage! Thanks! |

I would still do whatever you did in the past, ie drain all the water from the engines, manifolds, etc. Don't depend on the fact that its heated, what if the power goes out? They probably have insurance to cover that but why have to deal with the aggravation of getting things fixed if that happens. |

I agree. Power goes out, furnaces & boilers fail, don't let your boat be the victim. |

Step 1) Move to Florida!!!  Step 2) Only if step 1 fails.... Top off the tanks, add stabilizer, and ask for a copy of their insurance binder adding you as an additional insured. Step 3) Uncork the wine, you paid extra for heated storage, relax. Repeat. |

We do heated storage, they have low temperature alarms direct to the security company and they keep it around 60°F also. All I do to our boat is add fuel stabalizer, fog the engines, and unhook the batteries. We are allowed to go and do waxing and cleaning when it suits us over the winter. The beautiful thing is not having to add antifreeze to your plumbing system. I'll warn you though, once you do heated indoor you'll never go back to shrink wrapping and outdoor storage! |

Thanks for all the suggestions. We lucked out with a local storage company that gave me a deal ($600) for the 6 months it will be in storage. We will have full access as well as electricity right there to work on it. I think I will still winterize the engine, but just drain the water tanks and blow the lines so I don't have to deal with the antifreeze. Thanks again! |
