I cleaned my stainless props with muratic acid, now they are squeeky clean! 8)

I want to put something on them to protect them. Does anybody out there have any good recommendations? My neighbor on the one side said he uses stainless steel polish he bought at Lowes; the neighbor on my other side said he uses the same cleaner/wax he wheels his boat out with.

Suggestions?

Our Vista stays in the water (same lake as you) from early May until early October. With our stainless steel Volvo Penta props I find just a little scrubbing with a sponge or deck cleaner type brush is all I need to keep our props clean and shiny all season. I normally just give them a cleaning while I'm at our local sandbar. I put on a pair of goggles and give the out drives and props a cleaning. I really do find keeping those Volvo props easy to keep clean. My older boat with OMC stainless props for whatever reason was harder to keep clean.

I set mine in a 5 gallon bucket with water and apple-cider vinger overnight, to remove any hard water and then wipe it off and polish to perfection with some stainless polish. It comes out looking like a mirror.

Dang, we tried all kinds of things last year to no avail... muratic acid washed the crap right off and they look brand new!

I think a lot has to do with the canal we live on, right off of Lake St. Clair... its a "dirty" and weedy canal. What I mean by that is, our canal gets a lot of its water from the Clinton River, which is, in most peoples opinion, just a large drainage ditch anymore for the tri-county area. So needless to say, with whatever drain-off goes down the river, comes through our canal and anything you leave in the water gets fouled overnight. Thank god for VC17 and barrier coat!! lol.

I bought some stainless polish at Menards - it barely made a difference. I guess in the future, I will just coat them with cleaner wax like I read on other forums.
