So I fired up the engines today and let them come up to temp which on both my gauges is 175. My port engine kept going up so I shut the boat down at I would say before 200. I had just replaced my impellers and this is what I found. I found and extra O'rings in the pump which did not let the pump housing seat properly. I always thought this was below the water line but when I pulled both hoses off the water did not come rushing in ( boat was in my slip at the time) so I removed the extra O'ring checked the impeller and no signs of it melting or braking down. Put it back together and fired her up. She cam up to temp and ran fine. I had my hands all over the riser and manifold and all temp were good!!! So was it possible that it was just sucking air?
So just really want to confirm that the pump is actually monted above the water line and I not crazy

There will be no damage at 200, but on a lot of boats the pump is above the water line. All my volvo's were, especially the newer ones with the pump on the crankshaft.
