1994 235 Sundowner seems to be taking on water very slowly. Checked under the hull, while on the trailer and could not see any damage. Unscrewed and re inserted rear drain plug. Bellows were replaced 3 years ago.

Any suggestions ??

I knocked my outdrive on the sand last year and started taking on water kind of slowly took about two hours of sitting brfore the bilge would kick on. Mechanic put some sealer on it and tightened the screws..no leaks since.

The problem is your swim plat form extension. You need to remove it and ship to me and fill your holes and problem is solved. 8)

You have to look really carefully all around the transom mount, try it first with the drive down and see if you hear any trickles. You can put paper towels around the transom mount as far down as you can reach, then pull em out after a while to see if they are wet. If you see nothing from that, then try tilting the drive all the way up and re-check. This would point to the bellows. Get a really bright LED flashlight and a telescoping mirror.

Transom mount seal. Raw water pump leak. Raw water pump hoses leak. Loses hose clamps on exhaust. Bad seal on hull plug mount.

All of the above I have experienced at one time or another, so lots to check out.

Hahaha. That platform was the best thing we ever added to the boat, it's not coming off. It was from Swimplatform.com and they were very helpful.

I did bounce the transom off the bottom so will check that, It did not rain so can rule that out. Will also check the hoses as they are now 3 years old for some leakage.

My transom seal went 2 years back... mines a 238 with the 351, the seal is easy, getting at it was a b1tch. 22 hours labour but I'm assured it will NEVER leak again.

Could be your transom seal. First look at the transom under the drive and see if you see any staining. Or with the boat on the trailer disconnect your bilge pump put your drain plug in raise your trailer up take a hose and fill your engine bay slowly with water and check the outside of the boat transom for water leaking out.

Seems like an easy solution as long as I am careful on putting water in. If water can get into boat it should be able to get out !

Thanks !!

My prior boat had crack in the shift linkage rubber boot. Mini bellows if you will....drove me crazy finding it since would only leak when driver elevated.

I put on trailer...raised drive and backed in water while checking for water..saw it trickling in down transom then as bud turned drive left and right.
