Post subject:  Windlass Help
Today my windlass started acting up. All of a sudden it's not working correctly. It will let the chain and rope down no problem but when bringing the rope and chain up the motor is turning (I can see it spinning) but with a small amount of tension it just spins and does not continue to bring up the anchor?

Any idea what's going on?

It's a freedom 500 windlass on a 2007 278 vista?

So what exactly is turning? Are the "teeth" of the windless moving, or just the center? As in, is the windless getting a grip on the rope?

Have the same windlass, and had the same issue. The pressure arm inside the windlass broke. I replaced, and worked perfect. Also, how old is your rode, and have your tightened the windlass with the wrench?

the clutch is slipping. Use the hand crank to tighten the clutch nut. Its the wrench hole in the center.
