| Post subject: | Cold water from the thermostat housing for shower?? |
Hi Guys Had a few hours to start planning my heater and shower install, and I need some advise on the best place to tap off for cold water. The diagram in the link below is the exact thermostat housing I have. Does anyone know if there is cold water at either of the places marked "2". I am hoping these points will have a positive pressure so I don't have to use one way valves in the system to prevent crossflow. Even better if anyone has a flow diagram of the internal channels of this thermostat housing. http://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercr ... ated-drain If not then I will l cut the raw water inlet hose and use a T-Piece. Hot water is easy... Outlet from a plug in the head which is under higher pressure, & run a T piece for heater and shower. Return from the heater is into the top of the recirculating pump which should have a suction. Thanks in advance!! |

I don't know that thermostat housing, but if you "T" into the hose between the raw water pump and the thermostat housing, you will have positive pressure cold water. But Lou can tell you how fast your bilge will fill up if that connection comes undone. |

Not even Dr Google was able to supply me with a flow diagram so I pulled the thermostat housing off and had a good look. It seems there is no suitable point to pull off cold water that will always be cold from any of the points so the only other option is a metal T-Piece to use in the cold water supply line. Not ideal but easily done. And yes LouC it will be double clamped... Experience has taught me well!! |
