I own a vista 328, year 2000, with volvo penta 5.0 gi.

WOT, i can not reach more than 3200/3400 rpm with an empty boat and clean hull.
according to specs, I should reach 4600 rpm wot.

I have a Duo prop with F4 props.
I have been said that F2 props should be better to reach a right rpm wot. It seems 400 rpm are won at each pitch (f4 to f3, f3 to f2).

Has someone changed pitch of props?
What props do you have on vista 328?

thanks for your answers?

I don't own a 328, but according to the four winns fast facts sheet about the 2000 328 vista, the smallest gasoline power option was twin 5.7 gsi engines with f5 props. Is it possible that this boat was repowered with the smaller 5.0 engines and that is what is preventing you from reaching higher speeds?

You also may want to verify that the tachometer is not lying to you.

I am the third owner. Il is possible the boat was repowered. But I do not know!
The boat is very long to plane (more than 30 seconds) and burn a lot (35 liters to 40 liters at 3000 rpm).
I feel her very heavy...

I really think that with a smaller prop (F2), I will reach 4000 rpm easier and plane earlier with a better consumption. Is it correct?

I am definitely not an expert by any means, but yes I think going with a smaller pitch prop should give you higher rpms. However I do believe that you should make sure that the smaller props will be compatible with the gear ratio of your outdrives. I know you said you're the third owner but is this boat new to you? I only ask because you might want to check a few other things before spending a lot of money on some new props(if you haven't already), like check compression, plugs and fuel filters. Also I'd hate to see you shell out the money for new props and find out that the boat was repowered by a previous owner and he underpowered it with the 5.0 engines. Maybe do a search of 2000 328 vistas for sale and see if any of them have the same power plant. Also hopefully some of the more knowledgeable guys on here can chime in with some help.

Is her bottom clean? No marine growth on anything? I know that will for sure slow one down to a crawl.
