can anyone tell me where the impeller is located ? i know i have a water pump on the front of the engine for recirculation, but i am not getting water to the thermostat or to the pump.

If the drive is OMC Cobra, then the raw water pump is on the back of the outdrive. Just take off the curved plastic cover at the top/back of the drive (3 bolts) and the raw water pump will be right there. Easiest to service of all the drive types.

You have to figure out if you have the original (86-93) OMC Cobra (drive is flat across the top). Or the joint venture version that has a hump on top (Volvo design).
The former has the impeller in the rear of the upper gear housing, the latter has it on the engine like a Volvo. It is possible for a '94 boat to have a '93 engine & drive.

Lou is right. I have a 94 sundowner with a 93 omc 5.7 and drive. In the shop now for sucking up a bunch of wood which trashed the housing and impeller when we hit a submerged log.
