Oh Yes forgot to mention, I found a four winns H200 on the water this weekend with the Volvo 4.3 225hp. Slightly bigger boat, and heavier hull but off set by my waketower. Difference should be minimal considering similar power, weight and length.

We had a drag race. My boat running 19P high five with holes drilled, his a 21P 3 blade aluminium slightly dented...

His hole shot was better, 1 boat length in front after about 3 seconds, he was about 3 boat lengths ahead when I got onto the plain, and screamed away to about 50 meters ahead when I hit max speed.

Ahh ok, somehow misread that and thought you read no power at the socket. Only two things I can think of now would be:

Are you getting a full 12volts on the meter? I only ask because when I had problems with my garmin, one of the things tech support said to check for was if I was getting a full 12v reading. According to them, 12v electronics wouldn't work if there was a slight power drop.

The other question I have is did you test the 12v power at the terminals that attach to the socket, or did you test the adapter itself? If you tested at the terminals, it could be that you just happen to need a new power adapter.

As far as moving the earth cable to the battery ... no idea on that one, sorry.

Sorry to hear its costing so much and you haven't resolved the issue yet. As far as the 12v outlet not working, I would check for a blown fuse.

Thanks Mate, as I said originally there is 12v power at the socket when tested on the meter. But there must be some sort of feedback /ground issue as no electronics will work when plugged in. ie both the inflatable air pump and the mobile phone charger will work in the car, other boats, but not in off the lighter socket / outlet. Sound system works when connected to a jump start battery but not when connected to the boat battery, but there is 12v power to the radio & amp.

I see the mechanic has moved the earth cable from the back of the motor to the battery. His reason is that the original position was difficult to get to and was corroded so it made sense to move it. Not sure if moving it from the engine block to the battery would cause these issues?

Can you post up a pic, the ground cable should go from the battery to the engine bell housing.
