What I would like is for people to list in a consistent format the: boat, make model, drive, engine, prop, speed, overall performance review. This information is scattered on here and I feel that a combined area with this information would be golden. If we coulus stick to this format for consistency I think it would be useful to many. Boat specs Make: Chaparral Model: 215 SSi Length: 21ft Drive: Alpha 1 gen 2 Engine: 5.0 carb 220hp WOT speed: 47mph Prop make & model: Mercury Vensura Prop dimensions: 14x19 Brief review: The factory 3 bladed aluminum 14.5x19 was giving me 44mph and struggling to put 5 adults on plane, it took WOT and people moving up front. Cruising speed of around 25mph. With the Vensura with medium sized PVS has no issue putting 7 full sized adults on plane with 3/4 throttle with no weight shifting. Much better fuel consumption and better cruising speed. Crusing speed at same RPM (3000) is around 29mph. To compare to a Four Winns boat, this boat is equal to a mid 2000's Sundowner 225. |

Boat specs Make: Four Winns Model: Horizon RS Length: 18ft Drive: SX Drive 1.6 Ratio Engine: 4 BBL Carb 5.7 GL WOT speed: 55MPH (GPS) @ 4500RPM Prop make & model: SS Solas HR Titan 4 Prop dimensions: 14X21P Brief review: Comparing to the OEM 14.25 X 21P prop (perfect condition) the HR Titan allowed the Horizon to plane at 400RPM lower, plane easier with a passenger load (stern lift) and no loss of top speed. Interesting that the HR Titan got me an additional 4MPH when compared to a brand new Solas Amita 4, 14X21P at the same RPM. |

Boat specs: Make: Four Winns Model: 2000 Horizon 240 (1996-1999 style) Length: 24' Drive: Volvo Penta SX Engine: 5.7 GS (250 HP) WOT speed: 46mph Prop make & model: Michigan 3 blade SST, circa 1994 Prop dimensions: 14.25 x 19p Brief review: Good all purpose prop. This shows the longevity advantage of a SST prop... Been in service for 21 years on two different boats (it was re-hubbed from OMC to Volvo 3 years ago). It has plowed through floating debris, sand bars, and still looks and performs like new. |
