| Post subject: | Raw water cooling hose replacements |
I have an OMC 5.0 EFI in which a few of the cooling hoses are starting to show their age after 22 years. Some of the hoses are no longer available for purchase and what could be used for a suitable substitute? The main hose from the engine water circulating pump to the thermo housing is a big one that is not available. Could I just use standard automotive flex hose, or go for a full silicone reinforced style hose? Not too confident the reinforced silicone hose wil be able to make the bends. Have you tried Ebay with the part number? I'm sure you can find a replacement! |

If you can't find anything that will work, Sea-Way Marine in Washington State has a stockpile of OMC parts. You might try calling them with the part #s of what you need. These raw water cooled systems do not operate under pressure as a closed system does so automotive hoses will work fine if they fit right. |
