So the company who is supposed to be painting my out-drive has tried two separate paint colors (too dark and din't match) and now they don't have any other colors to try!

Does anyone know the correct paint part number? 3851219?

Thanks.

So the shop said they tried Volvo #3851219, OMC 772046 and Moller 25479.

I really don't want to have to paint everything or end up with a patchwork of color because the metal once match the plastic parts!

It doesn't matter if the paint doesn't perfectly match. It's a 21 year old discontinued outdrive. You don't see it when the boat is in the water and as long as it's protected from the elements so it doesn't corrode you're good. When mine gets chipped or paint wears off I just grab a can of rustoleum. Trust me, in the life of a boat owner having the outdrive not looking perfect is the least of anyone's worries.

Ric is right...told them to paint it the closest color match they have but on the lighter side!

FYI to future readers...those were NOT the correct colors. Any of them.

lol I'm happy if there's paint on it. Trilux-33 black for me. Doing it right now as we speak. Hate this job, enough to get outboards from now on.

I wish there was a 25ft express cruiser in existence that had an outboard.

ask and you shall receive. Not exactly 25 ft but a 24 and a 28. I saw the 855 at the boat show this year. Its really nice but I think 2 more feet would be perfect. I really like the European layout. No need for a galley down in the cockpit wasting space when there is usually another kitchenette on deck..

That's an amazing boat, for someone who hates the sun!

So here is where we ended up and I am happy with the results. Just need to get the Leg back onto the boat now...

Here in the Nordics they're quite popular. Google: Yamarin 76 DC, Finnmaster T8, Uttern D77. These are all in the 25ft range with sleeping for two adults and two kids.

Yep my next one will be about the same size but a walk around style fishing boat. Still undecided between 4 stroke Yam/Zuk/Merc vs 2 stroke E-tec'Rude. Having started out with an OMC, I feel the draw to the 'Rude, but the jury is still out on what's really better in the OB world. One thing I know, doing the work to keep the I/O going is getting older and older as I get older and older lol.

As late as 2005 Volvo was still using three different colors on stern drives. It was a crap shoot to get the right one as there doesn't seem to be any reliable documentation. Volvo couldn't even tell me which one based on serial number. Naturally the right one for my drive was the last of the three I tried.
