What should the max rpm's be for this engine? It seems I've lost a little top end. Have changed the fuel filter and the engine runs great, no missing, idles and starts fine. Prop has been reconditioned.

Thanks

According to the Fast Facts, a 2005 230 with the 5.7GXi DP should have the F5 propset and hit a top speed between 48-51 MPH. The full throttle operating range should be 4600-5000 RPM.

Thanks that's what I saw also. I don't believe I'm getting that high of rpm.

Looking for what could be causing the lower rpms at full throttle. Motor runs fine, no hesitation, no start or idle problems and changed fuel filter.

I try a couple times a year to give a brief WOT run to verify I can hit the factory expected RPM and speed. I do this as it is my check to make sure everything is ok but to achieve my expected RPM and speed I do have to make sure the underside of my boat is clean and I need to trim the drives out quite a bit over normal cruise trim to achieve the factory expected numbers.

What is your maximum RPM and speed that you get now? Is your boat bottom clean and did you trim your drives to obtain maximum speed?

Bottom is clean, waxed before storage and did trim.

rpm is probably 4100-4200
max speed 41 or so.

not a big deal but just curious to why loosing the rpms and speed. did have lower unit work done to it last year, bearings and seals.

I'm heading to lake this weekend so I'll take her out by my self and make sure their isn't any excess weight and try it again.

Thanks for your input guys.
