What is the part number of the o-ring on the drain plug of the DP Volvo-Penta unit? I seem to need one every year I winterize the boat but also seem not to write it down.

Thanks,
Kirk

I think I finally found the number. Does 955981 sound right? Also does this happen to anybody else that this o-ring is in shreds almost every time I service the lower unit? Maybe I'm not seating the ring correctly, but no oil leaks and no water enters.

I can't confirm the number even though I bought one every year for 12 years ! Yes, the ones on my drives always used to break when the plug was removed, but I never had any water ingress/ oil loss when they were in use.

What is the model of your drive? There are a lot of DP drive models. I don't know if the o-rings are all the same but i have a parts list (sorta) of most drives

Here is the exploded diagram for a DP-SM. Item 15.

I've also had problems with this thing getting shredded in the past, try using electrical tape over the threads to protect the o-ring from getting cut from the threads.

The o-ring # is 955981. Ordered a dozen of them. I usually recheck the level after the boat sits over winter and don't want to reorder this. The boat is a '05.

Thanks for the input.
