Wondering if anyone can tell me if the plastic tube attached to the gimbal grease Zerk can be pulled off and replaced without the drive being pulled, is it just a pressure fit into the gimbal bearing housing? My Zerk has fallen out and will not thread back into the plastic tube.
I did pull it out a 1/4" but do not want to pull it all the way out unless it can be replaced
Drive is a dps
Any insight on this?

Perfect just the info I was looking for, I had a little water in my bellows when I pulled my drive then found the zero missing and the plastic pipe stretch and unable to thread in the new zerk.
Ordered the new plastic pipe for this year but next year. I'm going to. Tap it and extend it out to the original position so it's easier to grease.

If I ever run into an issue I will likely do the same.

One thing I learned, is to be careful with that zerk.

Nice fix for that issue. I have not had a problem with mine but if I do I will probably fix it that way.
Although I've said this before, that is one of the reasons why its a good idea to pull the drive at the end of each season, you will know if there are any water leaks into the bellows before it really causes damage.

I always struggle to get my grease gun's head (3 jaw) to connect to my zerk.
Always just seems to ooze out the side, like it won't lock on?
What is the head size of this zerk? Are there US sized zerks that my Aussie jaw can't fit? :?

Deafwish, have you tried one of these?

http://www.amazon.com/LockNLube-Grease- ... ock+n+lube

I've put them on all my grease guns, they're the bee's knees. However - I'm not sure the diameter of it will fit into the opening in the side of the gimbal housing (I plan to find out during my next trip). For that reason I made (but haven't used yet) an L-shaped adapter out of brass nipples and fittings, with a standard coupler on one end (the one I took off one of my grease guns to make room for the LockNLube) and a zirk on the other end to which my LockNLube can attach.

I can tell you that the Evinrude triple guard grease probably saved my gimbal and u joints when my zerk popped off. That grease is awesome it didn't let the water intrude.
Not sure of the size of the zerk but it's common I grabbed one at my local hardware store.

Agian can't stress enough how important it is to pull the drives yearly because i had no signs of water in my bellows!!!
