Hi,
We have a 24' 2006 FourWinns deckboat w/ 5.7 GXI-G(F) 320hp Volvo Penta DP-S I/O w/power trim/tilt. We love every aspect of the boat. We also have a factory installed wake tower to boot. We're just looking for a little quicker hole shot for getting a couple skier's up and out faster.
Has anyone put Smart Tabs or Trim Tabs on there boat? If so,
your input would be most appreciated, Thanks Ray & Paula

If the Smart Tabs you are considering are the ones that are down and water pressure retracts them, forget them and put real tabs on the boat...Bennett is by far the best. Real tabs will give you control all the time, not just speed dependent. You will be able to adjust your boat based on conditions and for a port/starboard list.

I have heard that because of the design of our Four Winns, trim tabs are not that effective. Has anyone installed trim tabs and are happy with their performance. I have a 1996 245 sundowner, the stern has "pods" and the engine sits in between the pods and below the swim platform.
Thanks
Peter

I believe what you heard is a "half" truth, part of a bit of advertising. The pods you are refering to do help the boat get on plane eaiser as opposed to a completely flat transom design. As you get on plane, the pods seem to act like an fixed trim tab keeping the stern from squatting and providine a bit of lift.

However, most use their tabs to correct a port or starboard list caused by uneven weight distribution in the boat or wind, adjusting the bow up or down to provide a better ride in snotty water or a following sea, etc. The "Pods" will do absolutely nothing to correct the trim in those conditions.

Bennett's explanation of how tabs work here

John,
What size tabs do you have and It seems that you're happy with the way they work. Thanks for the info.

Peter, Call Bennett Marine or do the live chat Bennet Trim Tabs

They supply the tabs for Four Winns and will be able to tell you exactly what is the best for that hull.

Bennett's customer service is second to none!
