here's the issue,
last fall my engine ingested water up the exhaust when my tether came off at cruising speed, (1998 sundowner195 4.3 V6) once I realized what happened I needed to get the oil changed ASAP and the small town auto store near where I live did not have any marine grade oil so in a pinch I used Rotella T 15-40 to change my oil 3 times to flush out the milkshake.
I have heard that oil is robust so at the time it was better than using an automotive oil.
I used the boat once since then and put it away.
Now I am getting the boat ready for this year and wondering if I should change the oil now or run it through the fall with that oil in it?
I typically only use the boat to hang out on all day swimming and usually only put on about 15 hours a year.

what would be the best oil to use?
I used to put in Castrol heavy duty 30 weight in my last boat, with this one I have had a marina service it so was using whatever they put in up until last summer.
Thoughts?

I think you'd be fine with what you've got, assuming all the water is out. But if it'd make you feel better go back to your 30W.

Speaking from experience, if you only used the boat once since the oil fushes, you'll still have condensation in the engine.
I would give it a good run to allow the oil to remove internal corrosion & then do an oil/ filter change again.

This is exactly what I would do, as well. Any chance to ensure water is gone is worth doing...even if it costs a bit more.
