So I went out on the Fourth and when we got to the beach to anchor offshore I was unable to raise the drive. Moving the switch in the up position results in nothing, not even a click, pushing down makes the typical motor noise when she is already trimmed all the way down.

I jiggled, pulled apart and reconnected every wired connection, and switched the two relays with no change at all. All fuses look good, and when disassembled, the throttle trim switch connections still appeared intact.

Any thoughts before I bite the bullet and call the mechanic? Thanks!

It may be the trim position limit switch. On the Mercruiser units there are two switches on the outdrive. One limits the trim movement, the other provides the position info to your dash gauge. When I first bought my boat the position indicator switch was messed up, and I could only raise the drive with the "trailer" trim button.

A friend mentioned that possibility as well. No trailer trim button on this model though, only the single trim switch.

try jiggling the wires on the hydraulic pump/motor. I had this happen last year (in garage). Turned out to be a loose wire.

Tried all of that with no luck. The mechanic said that there was a "broken wire in the harness somewhere". I'm assuming he meant where the wires are all bundled up from the driver back to the engine. He ran a new wire from the control to the trim pump harness and all seems fine now.

Mine broke a wire in the pivot point of the throttle arm. I could access it by removing the OMC round cover.
