I've been reading about the service bulletin regarding removing the screen and replacing with the e-clip. Can I simply remove the regulator to check or do I need to depressurize the fuel system first?

When I replaced mine, I depressurized the system first. I didn't want to chance spraying fuel all over the bilge.

Do you have to do anything to re-pressurize the system, or will it do that on it's own? To depressurize the system there are two valve-stem like pressure release valves correct?

So I still have the screen. Where can I order the clip from?

Thanks guys!

The filter looked pretty dirty, seemed to have the paint chips that I have read about a lot. I tried to take it off to clean it, which of course it just cracked the screen.

I've ordered an e-clip. I did not see any VP dealers locally and I need the clip before Saturday so I just ordered online with 2-day shipping. Made for one expensive $3 part, but beats cancelling plans for the weekend.

I went ahead and ordered a new anti-siphon valve as well just in case. While I was out this past weekend the boat started to whine on the last startup of the day, from what I have read it sounds like the fuel pump but I'd like to try some of these small items first. I also read the boat need to have the key turned for several seconds before starting to make sure it gets properly primed. I did not know that before and most of the time on the water I would just tun the key and fire it straight up. I'm hoping that is all it was. I went out to the garage and turned the key and the pump seemed loud. After turning it a few more times it seemed like it had gotten quiet again. I'll know for sure this weekend. Luckily I am going out with another boat so if I do have a pump failure on the water I have a tow boat. Just in case, where do I get a new pump in the $600 range? I see a lot of people online say they paid $600 but everything I am seeing online is $850 or so.

Thanks again,
Steve

I replaced one of mine for around $650 about four years ago on some ebay store. It doesn't appear that the fuel pump assembly can be had for that price anymore. The Volvo Penta store wants the ridiculous sum of $1220.67!!! I should probably start trying to refurb my old ones for backup...

I have the VP 5.7 GSI and know that there is also a fuel regulator on the TBI. Does this service bulletin cover all the EFI fuel regulators? Any one have a copy of it?
