I bought this boat in late May and thus far have loved it. The boat is physically in great condition and has been very well maintained. This past weekend I experienced my first problem. I was running at approximately 2500-3000 RPM on plane and the engine began to hiccup as if I was rapidly turning on and off a switch multiple times. I brought the boat to idle and it stalled. I was able to immediately restart it by pumping the throttle. A couple of times I attempted to resume normal speed, but each time it would repeat the previous scenario. As long as I stayed at or close to idle the engine ran smooth and without any issues. I have checked all of the obvious electrical connections and they are tight.Thoughts?

Fuel injected or carb?

How old is the gas?
Remove the fuel filter/water separator and empty the contents into a disposable container, like one of those "glad" containers that seem to multiply in your cabinets overnight. Look for water, it will separate like oil and water. And then replace the filter if it hasn't been done recently.

Imo, sounds like water in the fuel or a batch of bad fuel.

It's a carb motor.

I haven't tried the fuel filter/water separator yet, but it is on the list for this weekend. I have run out any old gas by now. Both fill ups were with non-ethanol gas at stations that would not have gas "laying around".

As of now I plan on replacing:
1) fuel filter
2) coil
3) cap/rotor

I am also considering removing the tether switch. Does anyone know if it is "normally open" or "normally closed"?
