Hello All,
I have been reading and I am reading that I should use SAE 30 Motor oil to use for my oil change. What would you suggest? I have been seeing people use 15-40. I have a 5.0L EFI. I have a 1996 Four Winns 200 Horizon.

I have a 1997 7.4GiDP Volvo, that I have used Amsoil 15-40 in the block since new. Now has 1000 hours on the engine and so far, no problems.

Either use the recommended SAE 30 or Mercruiser 25-40 as its readily available.

Royal Purple and Sierra both offer a synthetic SAE 30 if you want to follow the manual to a "T". On Amazon right now these oils are selling for $11 and $9 per quart, respectively.

You have a lot of choices as noted above. The Merc 25/40 is easy to find, more so than the straight weights. The ones I'd avoid are the 10w/30 or 5w/30 because they can shear down to a 20w under high rpm use over time. 15w/40 has also been used. Just avoid the lower vis oils....
