Can the impellor be changed on the front of a 2000 volvo penta gsi by just removing the 4 slotted screws and cover? Boat is in the barn. Do i need to remove the hoses and bracket? Boat ran fine but just bought it last year and I am changing a lot of preventive maintenance items. |

Bracket - yes, hoses - no. Although, it might be easier to remove the hoses and pull the assembly out of the engine compartment to replace the impellor. |

What exactly is the purpose of the bracket? My port motor had it-(although it was missing the rubber bump stop- and just had a glob of gooey RTV !@$!$#). But my starboard motor doesn't have the bracket or bolts? I guess i will be ordering that bracket, the mounting bolts, and 2 rubber bump stops. I assume it is to keep it from moving or spinning under engine torque??? |

I encountered an overheated or deteriorated stop this week. I have no idea what the material is, but it literally turned into this goopy tar-based rubber slime that sticks to EVERYTHING. It's all over my impeller housing. I've tried soap, gas, kerosene, tar remover, steam, and elbow grease and it just resists it all. |

Yeah I bought a used bracket with the 2 bolts of ebay for $80. And 2 new bump stops from Michiganmotorz for $9.78 each. |
