 Post subject: Battery wire question
PostPosted: Sat Jun 02, 2018 9:26 pm
I bought a 2004 funship 194 early this spring. I took the battery out of it until today. I went to hook the battery wires back up, and all seemed well until I found a small black wire with a red stripe. It is not clear to me if this should be mounted to the positive or negative terminal. Anyone have an idea?

I would be surprised if it went to ground... Can you trace it back? Any chance it goes to the bilge pump or another "always hot" circuit?

You could leave it off and run thru the switches and see what doesn't work :-)

When I pull wires knowing they'll be off for awhile, I put a masking tape flag on it with info on where it goes. I don't trust my memory.... I also keep a notebook and keep details on what I'm doing and plan to do.

Thanks, I will try and trace it back. I tried everything but the radio yesterday with it not hooked up. I didn't find anything that wasnt working. Oh, I have not tried starting the engine yet. I am splashing this afternoon.

Mystery solved. It was the ground wire for the fuel level sender.
