Is an audible whine from the fuel pump normal for these engines? Ive seen videos where it makes an almost screaming noise that goes up and down in pitch. Mine doesn’t do that, its just a constant whine thats a little louder than the blower. Ive read about the paint peeling and clogging the inlet filter, burning out the pump. My boat runs great though, it just has that whining noise. I plan to be out all day Saturday and dont want to get stranded. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I just talked to the prior owner. He said it has always made that noise since he owned it (bought it new.) He always used ethanol-free gas. Sounds like it's normal, and not a cause for concern unless it is screaming and you can hear it while driving. I don't hear the very high pitch whine in video....it is a very high pitch sound. On mine it would quit whining for short periods then start up.... then it quit whining altogether in middle of lake. It only whined a short time before catering. You can test high and low fuel pressure with loaner gage from auto zone. Can Google for pressure range and how to test. |
