Was almost done getting the boat ready to put in the water this season, went to grease the gimbal bearing on the starboard side of the drive, usually hook up a grease gun and give it 10-15 pumps. This year noticed that the zerk fitting is damaged. It looks like it was severed off, very strange
Anybody have advice on how to repair? Tried backing out what is there with an “EZ-out” but wasn’t getting anywhere.
Any advice on what to do and repair part numbers would be appreciated. Thanks

The suggested fix is to not use the plastic tube again. See link below.

10-15 pumps? That seems like a lot.

That's a nice mod, assuming you don’t mind pulling everything each time you need to grease the gimbal. If I were to attempt such a thing, I’d use a threaded brass nipple back out to the original location.

the zerk threads into a plastic tapered fitting which just pushes into the gimbal ring. just grab the plastic fitting and give it a yank. The better choice to the link above is to tap that hole and extend it out to the original spot. I had the same issue and time was not on my side so I just bought the OEM plastic tapered fitting and a new zerk and pushed it back in

Thanks for the feedback, below is a link to where I posted the same question to iboats, that post has a photo of current conditions. I was unsure how to post a photo to this page.

Is there any way to remove the damaged fitting from the hose and replace with a new zerk without removing the drive? Any feedback on that approach would be appreciated.
