So my 5.0 gxi was backed down the ramp, cranked, started, and shut right off. Tried repeatedly with the same result. Tried picking up the idle but would still sputter and shut off. Even backfire back through the intake. Thought maybe map sensor since when I unplugged it, the boat would idle. I tried several parts distributors with no luck. A nice fella at a local boat shop pulled one off an intake he had in stock and gave it to me to try. Same result. At that point I just dropped it off rather than trailer it a couple hours home and try to diagnose it without the proper tools. Just got the call today that it was actually the fuel pressure regulator. I believe it prob had very high pressure on the high side due to a restriction. I will get more details from boat shop when I pick it up. Anyone encountered a similar problem? Prob would have been an easy diagnosis if I had brought it home.
