Searching online, some sites read Volvo Penta 3855516 wrench will do while others say 3855876? Has anyone had any success with either? Whichever one, this tool is used to remove the nut of the inboard prop of a dual prop outdrive.

I have been using one of these for 7 years without any issues. Ebay prices range from $20 to 60. I think I paid $30-35 at a local dealer. This wrench and a 2x4 or 2x6 board between the prop and the anti-ventilation plate has always worked for me. I recommend pulling the prop each year to check for fishing line wrapped around the prop shaft and to access the drain plug to change outdrive oil.

Thank you. Ordered the 3855516 as Surface Interval suggested.

The 3855516 is just fine as long as you don’t need a breakover bar to get a too-tight nut off, or if you don’t want to use a torque wrench to reinstall your props. In those cases you’d need a 30mm socket and a VP 3855876.
