Just bought a 94 freedom with a 3.0L I/O OMC. Boat has been sitting up for 10 years. Garage Kept. Problem: Drained old oil and gas. Changed plugs and battery. Starts easy for a few seconds, but wont stay running. Any ideas, Please.

Once it stalls, does it start right back up? if not, what do you need to do to get it started again?

Restarts the same way. Starts easy, then sputters out.

I'd guess something carb related. I'd want to rebuild or replace any carb that's been sitting unused for 10 years.

You may be just running on the shot of fuel from the accellerator pump, but no fuel flowing through the idle or main jets. In this case. a "rebuild" is in order.

Will the engine restart if you don't pump the throttle (which pumps fuel through the accellerator pump, assuming it is working)?

Got to be a varnish build up in the carb if it sat so long with gas that old, stabil or no stabil. You could try and run some carb cleaner though it. Another thing to swap immediately would be that 10 year old fuel filter.

After sitting that long, you'll probably have to go thru the whole fuel system, rebuild the carb, change all filters, make sure the gas tank is clean, and check the antisiphon valve on the gas tank. May also consider replacing the rubber fuel lines.
There was gas that evaporated in the carb, leaving behind deposits that probably clogged jets in the idle circut. If you're not familiar with carb rebuilding you could remove it yourself and take it to a shop.
