I called my local Volvo dealer today to order some exhaust flappers. They said that Volvo discontinued the flappers and per a Volvo service bulletin, they recommend removing them altogether. I am afraid water would get into the engine if I did this. Do you think Volvo would cover any damage if that happened? |

Before my current boat I had a '96 FW Horizon 200 with a 5.8 motor. It was a rare option but also had the flappers removed and not reinstalled when they started to rattle. Never had a problem with it over the next 2 years I had it. |

Beezy, you don't say what year or model your boat is, but without the flappers you just need to be careful about coming off plane suddenly. |

I ended up removing the flappers as the service bulletin said to. I also found a copy of the service bulletin online and saved it so I can call Volvo Penta I have any problems. |
