Just got an OEM impeller for my VP 5.7 and it came with green and black o rings. Anyone know which one to use? Dealer had no clue and no instructions in box or manual.

Did read someone post green is for diesel but fuel supply has nothing to do with impeller o ring exposure.

Dealer said install one that doesn't leak... my reply was no shi@...really!

Anyone know what to use?

If I recall correctly the green one is for a diesel engine. I thought there were instructions in the box regarding the two O rings. I wonder if the box you have has been opened and those were removed. i have a spare on my boat but I'm not at the boat this weekend.

Definitely the box had been opened as there's no glycerin packet with the impeller either.

The OEM VP impeller I ordered didn't come with the packet either. However it did have both o-rings.

I used the black one. Here's a video I did of the swap:

I actually watched your video as a refresher before i made the swap. It is the black for gas as posted. I found an instruction book in one of my old boxes...I've save all my old ones to show maintenance.

They changed up the part numbers though....I noticed the new impeller has threads at one end...dont guess it matters which way you fit it on the spline.

I had a minor drip last season and looked to be at the o ring where housing meets the base. If it drops again then I will be rebuilding and replacing the seal and bearing next go round.

I couldn't get small socket on 2 of the bolts but see you did...guess I need to shop for a thinner walled 5/16.

For those bolts I used a 1/4 in drive ratchet and a deep socket.

Clear...i did too but there wasnt enough space between edge of bolt head and edge of pump housing to get a socket over the bolt. For those in had to use an open end wrench. I will add the bolt pattern on my housing is different than yours. My bottom bolt points straight down and has to be removed by brail.
