I have a 2015 275V with a DPS-B drive. The trip out before todays trip I noticed the trim gague was reading higher than normal, I hit the trim button a couple times and it seemed to read normally. Today as I was leaving the marina the gague was reading half way. I tried toggling the trim switch and it did no good. I stopped the boat and checked to make sure the drive is going full travel up and down. All good there. What I have now is a gague that reads half to full with the switch ,quite sparadically, and the EVC information panel showing a trim of between 8 - 27 degrees. Before I start digging into this, does anyone have any sugestions where to start. Can I ohm read at the gague to check the $296.00 sending unit? |

There are quite a few troubleshooting guides across the interwebs and youtube, but yes you can find the pigtail for the sender and test the resistance....the sender is a common failure item. |

Wound up changing the sender. Followed the instructions in the Volvo manual, all went well. Time consuming project but patience prevailed. Thank you for the responce. |

I’ve changed mine about 4 times over the course of almost 20 years, they don’t last long in salt water. My previous mechanic came up with a work around to make this job easier that it would normally be. It is nice to have it working. At the same time I fixed the Speedo by just cleaning out the sender and tube on the transom, so now all the gauges work lol! |

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ugdxo8n6dfab ... d.jpg?dl=0 Mechanic drilled a hole in the transom mount and ran the wire up the transom like a transducer cable so you don’t have to try to get into that nearly inaccessible place where it normally comes out of the inner transom area. |

Thank you for taking the time to send the picture. Says a thousand words. I will save this for the next time I go change it out and don't want to expose my wife (first mate) to the vulgarities. |

Lol. When I do jobs like that (replacing the steering actuator behind the engine comes to mind) I curse in Italian (learned from my parents & other older relatives) so the neighbors aren’t offended! Because none of them understand! |

Thanks again for the help with my sensor questions as well as the Utube sites,they were great. Enjoy italian heritage month. Some day I have to break down and bring my wife back to her Bologna. She spent five years there in the late 60'S. I was in V-Nam. |
