Have owned the boat for 12 + years trim guage never worked.

Got a new instrument panel a few years later and didn't work, investigated sender wiring and found them all broken (common problem)

picked up a cheap knock off sender this year and while working through the install I was testing the new sender before fishing new wires, can't get the trim guage to even budge, tried jumping the wires, manually turning sender, etc. Ohm meter on sender indicates its working.

So I am down to the wiring between the plug from sender cable to the instrument panel, I can't trace sucessfully the wiring from the harness, though I haven't tried a continuity tester yet. I am beginning to think the trim guage itself is inop though it seems like the least likely culprit as its only a few years old compared to the rest of the boat. I can't make heads or tails out of the schematic and without removing the guage from the bezel is there a way to jumper the guage itself to see if it will even move? sorry for the poorly written question, looking for further troubleshooting. I have been without for 10 years so its not a big deal just one of those things would be nice to work if I could figure it out....can't get image to host from flickr but below is link to back of trim guage

Jon try this it may help with the wiring, you might wind up having to re-wire a new harness for the trim gauge.
Just fixed mine, replaced the sending unit for like the 4th time over nearly 20 years, all the original 1988 gauges still work including the speedometer (just had to clean out the sending unit and tube on the transom).

yea I've seen that, I guess I am just wondering which poles on the trim guage I can jump to at least see if the needle jumps, before I run a new wire along the bundle. I think if I take it out of the bezel it will be marked and easy, but installed the markings are covered and I don't know enough about the wiring to even make an educated guess. I may email AA marine who built the replacement panel if he can help.

You can even call Faira tech rep and ask how to test the gauge. I called them once a few years back and found them helpful.

that's a good idea, I ended up breaking down and taking it out and bench testing it per the Faria manual. Even more confusing it moved correctly a few times now I cant get it to test...ordered a new gauge and replacing my wonky jumper wires and see if I can get it figured out.
