A new(er) long block with less than 100 hrs (2 seasons). The starboard engine recently started leaking oil. it drops 1/3 of a quart into the bilge every 2-3 hrs of cruising. Mechanic says that the engine has to come out to replace the front oil seal behind the timing cover. Wondering if anyone had this issue with the same engines configuration. Did you have to remove the engine? Any comments or related experiences ? |

I’ve never had to do this job (believe it or not my old 1988 4.3 has the original short block and no oil leaks!) but I think to do the timing chain cover the oil pan has to come off. So the mechanic is probably right… |
