Post subject:  Winterizing 5K Kohler Generator

My 5K Kohler Generator in our 2001 328 Four Winns I think ate its water impeller and I'm close to getting lifted out and winterized for the end of our boating season. Normally our previous marina would suck up antifreeze from the thru hull fitting on underside of boat and run generator until antifreeze would spit out the exhaust thru hull. I need to winterize generator myself. I was going to add antifreeze to the sea strainer for generator and run generator until antifreeze spits out exhaust, but am fearful without the impeller working properly the generator might not pull antifreeze thru? Could I hook up a manual pump to the line that goes from sea strainer to generator and manually pump the antifreeze thru generator until it spits antifreeze out back? I might not be able to get impeller changed until spring. Is there an easier way to winterize genny with this impeller issue?

This might help but I'm certainly no expert. These generators use a heat exchanger. I would typically just pull the zinc anode on the heat exchanger to drain the water. I've never had an issue doing it that way.
