I'm tiring of my pump system (9 qts is a lot to pump and I always make a mess!) and was thinking it would be nice to use one of these. http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product ... 008&r=view

Seems like you install it and leave it correct? Then just open it up and drain the oil. I'm assuming you can feed it through the transom plug and into a container?

Any thoughts?

Thats the way I would like to change oil it will be a summer project, twins and a pump takes way to long and yes run it through the transom plug is a real plus.

That's how mine came from the factory. I use it.Takes a while, even when warm, but I usually have enough other things to do, that I don't notice. In my case the drain plug for this hose is attached via lanyard to the boat drain plug, so it's not too tough to get through the transom.

Don't know about the 8.1 VP but my '07 5.7 Gi uses the oil drain plug hole in the pan for the dipstick as well. It seem they decided that it was the best (lowest) place to allow for a complete pump out of the engine oil. I wanted to add one of those drain kits as well but found out I was out of luck.
