Post subject: | prop question(s) |
i am looking for a spare prop right now and have a chance to buy a used (new) one but have a few questions i don't seem to find. the one i'm looking at is the same size as mine (14.25x21) but i am told it has 15 splines? i haven't pulled mine to count them yet and i don't see any info in my books. i did look up some various sites selling props and it seems to list my 1995 5.0 cobra as using a 19 spline prop.? i wonder if i'm outta luck on this one? ( the prop for sale has a 391202 number and mine is 3850309)- bk |

The 391202 is an OMC number, 3 blade aluminum. The Michigan Wheel replacement 3 blade Vortex Aluminum 14.25 x 21 RH rotation replacement # is 992005. You will need the XHS hub kit for this to fit. Or a Michigan Match 3 blade aluminum, same size is 161004. No hub kit needed for this one. The 3850309 is a 3 blade stainless steel Volvo SX propeller. All of these props are 19 spline and will fit your OMC. You need to decide if you want Aluminum or Stainless. The Volvo replacement # for 3 blade aluminium in the same size is 3850302. |

I'm curious and have seen too many numbers to know which might help my WOT issues. My prop is 13.5" dia x 21p. What happens when one goes to a 14.25 x 21p to WOT? My WOT is at the bottom of factory specs; 4200 rpm. I would like to get to or close to the top which is 4600 rpms. I was told the lower number P equals +200 rpm but what happens to top speed if I were to drop to a 19p to get nearer to the 4600 mark? Tom |
