Hello all,

I'm knee deep in my first oil change with this new (to me) boat. It's a 00 248V with a 5.7GS.

I've pumped the oil and changed the filter. My issue is that the manual says the oil fill is located right behind the dip stick. On my engine, I don't seem to have that fill. On the other side (left side if looking out the back of the boat) I have what appears to be a fill on the manifold cover.

Can anyone confirm if this is the right place to pour the new oil?

Thanks,

On both my '99 and '04 5.7 GM derived engines the oil filler has been on the starboard side rocker cover, i.e. on the left, looking from the front of the engine as you describe. Yours is also a GM derived unit ( if original). It might be that the earlier Ford derived V8s units have the filler on the right.

It looks like mine in on the opposite side than the oil dip stick. Does this sound right?

Mine is a 5.0gi. If it looks like this the filler is under the white bit of cable on the left side of this photo.

Just a reminder to only replace the same amount as you suck out! If you put the full spec'd amount in she'll be overfull.

Talking from experience!

Thanks everyone for the help. That picture above confirms things. That is exactly how mine is setup also.

Thanks
